On our last day in Italy we woke up super early to take a five hour train ride to Ventimiglia, a town on the border of Italy. We arrived at the train station and bought tickets to cross the border to Nice, France. We did not have to provide any documentation in either country. It was super strange for us to switch from one country to another. We kept speaking in Italian. After checking into our hotel we set out to explore the beautiful town of Nice. We ate pasta for lunch, we still wanted Italian food. We wandered the shopping district and down to the boardwalk, then into the old town. We really enjoyed Nice. We have never been to another city in France besides Paris. I liked that Nice was smaller and the people were very pleasant.
We walked up a hill with a park on top to get a panoramic view of Nice.
On the way down the hill we stopped at a cemetery. We bought dinner from the grocery store along with a pastry. I cannot come to France without getting a pastry. I also had a crepe earlier in the day. We left for home the next day. We only had a small taste of southern France. We will definitely be back and of course we will always come back to Italy.
