On our last day in Zurich, Matt and I took the tram to the Rietberg Museum. In the picture below I am holding Swiss Francs at the tram station. The Swiss have their own currency, which is strange for us since most of Europe have the Euro.
The Rietberg Museum is located in Rieterpark and most of the artwork is on display in the delightful Wesendonck Villa. And look how green the park is. It was January. January!
The Rietberg Museum was interesting to us because we have never visited a museum with works from Africa, South America, and even Alaska.
After the museum we took the tram to the Hauptbahnhof, for a train ride to Rheinfall. We spent some time at the kiosk trying to find an all day train pass since train tickets in Switzerland are super expensive. We finally found the correct tickets and boarded a train for Winterthur where we changed trains to go to Neuhausen. When we boarded the train we were not sure we were going in the right direction but thankfully things always seem to work out for us. Unfortunately there was a brand new station right next to the waterfall that we did not know about, so we went right past it. We exited the train at the next stop and were able to walk along the Rhine River to approach Rheinfall from the Neuhausen side which is free, and also in my opinion the better side to view Rheinfall.

Rheinfall! Rheinfall is the largest plain waterfall in Europe. It is 450 feet wide and 75 feet tall.
When we were done exploring the Neuhausen side we walked across the bridge to the Schloss Laufen side. We bought tickets to go down the steps right next to the roaring waterfall.
We left Rheinfall and took the train back to Zurich, where we had bratwurst and currywurst for dinner. We also bought Swiss chocolate to take home.
